You may wonder what on earth we are doing. I have a similar thought on a regular basis. After the idea of taking Resolution III around the shores of NZ was muted about 2 years ago, it is now becoming a reality. Frightened by the idea back then, time has passed, freedom has increased and a sense of adventure has prevailed. And one to never shy away from a challenge, it’s now “let’s do it!”
We are in love with our boat and love spending time on board. So why not do this while exploring our beautiful country at the same time. We’ll be doing this on land as well as by sea.
I’m letting Mr B be Captain (I know, I know… I’m too kind), so his first job is to do a Passage Plan. Current plan is to go from Auckland around the top of the Coromandel, down the East Coast of the North Island, through Cook Straight and down the West Coast of the South Island, through Foveaux Straight around Stewart Island, back through Foveaux Straight and up the East Coast of the South Island, through Cook Straight and up the West Coast of the North Island and over the top of the North Island and back down to Auckland.
So we are doing an infinity loop with an extra loop for Stewart Island – it would be rude not to don’t you think?
Current departure set for 1st November. Let the planning begin…
